It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. After seeing all the destruction and witnessing the poorest of New Orleans residents try to make it out of the city.
On the news last night, I watched a father and son sitting on top of the roof of what probably was their house, which was submerged in water.
Never having been to New Orleans, I feel the loss of never seeing a city rich in history and culture. Brandon Marsalis, a New Orleans resident, says the city will rise again. With much anguish and bittersweet.
I'm going to try and get a charity link going on my page so that anyone who reads can donate. I've joined the Blog Relief Day efforts, and you can go there to make a donation as well. I'll try to get the exact address.
I'm going to post more frequently just to write about this devastating situation. I can't just stand by and do nothing.
Its the brokest of New Orleaneans who are affected by this tragedy. The ones with no means to repair their houses, buy food or water, rent a hotel, or have a car at their disposal to leave town. Will thay even have a job when they even get to return to the city. As I write, people are stuck in the most unsanitary conditions, akin to a third world country. The poorest who are looting are not criminals, just those who have nothing.
